Hollow fiber membranes feature a high surface-area-to-volume ratio making them very efficient and ideal for samples smaller than 0.5 mL. Membranes are made from a biologically inert, regenerated cellulose impregnated with glycerol. Individual fibers are ideal for the recovery or introduction of micro-quantity biologicals or pharmaceutical materials into a localized tissue environment. Inject a sample into the lumen with a syringe, dip the ends of the fiber into epoxy, allow to dry, and then implant.
